Class Descriptions
All classes are filled by the students grade or age, and then grouped by ability within the class.
Parent-Tot
This 45 minute class is designed for girls and boys 2 to 3 1/2 years of age that are accompanied by an adult. We develop coordination and appropriate interaction with peers, while learning gymnastics shapes and fun skills. Parents will enjoy helping their child learn.
1 hour Preschool- Kindergarten
This 60 minute class is for boys and girls ages 3 1/2 to Kindergarten [independent potty skills are required]. This fun filled hour teaches basic gymnastics skills and terms while children learn to follow directions and play in a class setting. Hand-eye coordination and educational toys are used during warm-up to make stretching fun (such as scarves, bean bag frogs, hula-hoops, etc).
We give instruction on 2 events per week, and flip-flop that schedule. The children get equal access to all the apparatus. We also like to add a third event if possible. The trampoline and our foam pit is our favorite! We teach our students great gymnastics skills along with life-long lessons that includes: how to overcome fears and phobias (risk-taking), how to keep trying even if you're not perfect (perseverence), and how to enjoy being fit... movement is FUN!
1 hour Girls Grades 1-2
A 60 minute class where girls learn skills on vault, bars, beam and floor ex, as well as on trampoline. This class is the perfect progression from a Kindergarten/Preschool class setting or for girls new to gymnastics since we group the kids by grade and then by ability within the class. Self-esteem and confidence are key ingredients to sucess in learning here. We are very respectful of natural fears, and can easily challenge our bravest dare devils!
1 1/2 hours Girls Class Grades 3-5
A 90 minute class where gymnasts have the time to develop more and more exciting gymnastics skills. We continue to perfect our basics while progressing towards more advanced skills. The extra time for these older athletes makes for an exciting, action-packed class. Many girls in this age group enjoy coming twice a week as more practice time means more learning!
1 1/2 hours Girls Class Grades 6-12
A 90 minute class for girls with a desire to strengthen and improve their physical condition and gymnastics skills. This class offers a setting that encourages social connections while enjoying the beautiful and rewarding sport of gymnastics. All skill and ability levels can be found here. Girls learn to enjoy getting into shape with goals that challenge their minds and bodies.
1 hour Boys Class Grades 1- 3 AND Grades 4 and up
This 60 minute class is designed for fitness and strength through the practice of the six men's gymnastics events and trampoline. It is fantastic cross training for other sports as well as great gymnastic FUN! Here the boys will develop strength, spatial awareness, and men's gymnastics skills. This program begins each class with sets of swinging challenges on 3 stations, then offers skill acquisition on 2 events, and often ends with trampoline, pit, or resi challenges and contests!
1 hour Tumbling class
This one hour class provides a challenge to all levels of ability. Tumblers will work out on the floor, the trampoline (with spotting belt) and a full sized tumble trampoline. All trampolines are recessed into the floor for added safety. Landings are able to be performed into loose foam and resi-pits. We offer beginner through advanced tumbling for cheerleaders, dancers, and others.
Prep-Op
This program provides opportunities to gymnasts who want to participate in competitive gymnastics without the confines, cost & extended time comittment of USAG's level 4 to10 program. We love how much we learn and grow each year. It's remarkable! Megan St. Germain is the lead coach for the Prep-Op Team. (Megan is a former optional competitor at Off The Wall.)
